Konami-Kojima Split Not Due To Bonus/Profit Sharing, Rika Muranaka’s Statements Were Misconstrued

The confusion behind Kojima's rumored departure from Konami intensifies.

Yesterday we reported that former Metal Gear Solid Composer Rika Muranaka might possibly have an insight on the reasons behind the split between Hideo Kojima and Konami. However, it seems that some fans and publications have mistakenly misconstrued her statements as official confirmation and fact.

This led YongYea and FraggedNation to publish new video in which Daley from FraggedNation clarified that the split between Konami and Hideo Kojima was not due to bonus and profit share. According to Daley, Kojima is a salaried employee of Konami and and as per the Japanese working culture, an employee cannot expect any bonuses or profit share on the game’s sales. He also clarified that Rika Muranaka statements were misinterpreted as facts as it was only her opinion on the matter. Some publications misinterpreated her statements as if she was implying that Konami were denying Kojima his profit share/bonuses which is completely untrue. You can watch the full clarificatin below.

So what really happened between Konami and Kojima? Honestly, we have no idea and we won’t know until December which is when Kojima will supposedly leave Konami.
