Legends of Runeterra Announced – League of Legends Card Game Coming in 2020

A demo is currently available for a limited time.

Among the many titles that Riot Games announced during its 10th anniversary stream for League of Legends, it confirmed that a digital card game spin-off was in the works. Legends of Runeterra aims to compete with Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone but with less randomization and more direct purchases. So if there’s any card you want, it can be purchased separately without needing a booster pack.

Playing normally can still net cards – you choose a fictional region, play some games, earn points and then unlock loot accordingly. The game itself is releasing in 2020 but you can pre-register for either the PC or mobile versions. A demo, which is available for five days, can also be accessed through here so hurry up and register.

Legends of Runeterra is one of many projects that Riot Games has in the works. Project L is fighting game featuring League of Legends characters while Project A is a competitive FPS featuring a completely new IP. Both titles will be “going dark” after their announcements with more details coming later. However, League of Legends will be coming to consoles and mobiles next year with League of Legends: Wild Rift.
