Luigi’s Mansion 3 Enters UK Charts In Second Place, Becomes the Biggest Switch Launch of 2019 So Far

Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare retains the top spot.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was, as many would have guessed, on top of the UK sales charts once again this week, where it debuted last week, as per the data provided by UKIE / Gfk Chart-Track (via GamesIndustry). Having grossed over $600 million in revenue worldwide in its first three days of the market, there was never any doubt that Activision’s shooter would continue topping charts across the world for some time to come.

At No. 2 though, we see a new entry this week, in Nintendo and Next Level Games’ Luigi’s Mansion 3. It is, surprisingly, the Nintendo Switch’s biggest launch in the UK in 2019 so far, outpacing the sales of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, which in turn had outpaced Super Mario Maker 2. Luigi’s Mansion 3’s sales were tracked for 24 hours more on debut than for those two, since it was released on a Thursday instead of a Friday, but it is still a very impressive debut. Its physical launch sales are up by 140 per cent as compared to 2013’s Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon.

In third place is FIFA 20, which has now sold over 1 million physical copies in the UK, while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe continues to exhibit strong legs at No. 4. Obsidian Entertainment’s RPG The Outer Worlds has moved down one spot for a fifth place finish.
