UKIE/Gfk Chart-Track have released the latest weekly data for video game software sales in the UK for the week ending August 24th, and it’s been a weird week. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a two year-old re-release of a five year old game, has topped the charts (via GamesIndustry). That said, Minecraft, which is placed sixth, should be the top placed game, but misses out on a technicality. It has different publishers for different versions, which means the Switch version places sixth, but put together, Minecraft sales top those of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s.
Super Mario Maker 2 is the second placed game, while yet another Nintendo Switch exclusive ranks in the top 5 with Super Mario Odyssey. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled continues its strong sales in the UK with a third placed finish, while Mortal Kombat 11 comes in at fourth place.
Yu Gi Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is the only debutant in the top 10, taking the tenth spot. Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, and The Division 2 round out the rest of the top 10. You can check out the full charts below.
