Despite several months old and revealed on the Hideradio Podcast, new information for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has only now become available. It reveals that Snake will have the ability to bring a “buddy” on some missions, who will wear the same equipment. It’s not revealed as to whether this will be a feature for co-op but the female host found the concept art for the buddy (unreleased thus far) to be “cute”.
Also, remember that instance in the E3 2013 trailer where Snake smoked a cigar and time seemingly fast-forwarded, complete with a watch in the background? That’s apparently the means for players to change the time of day – smoking a cigar. There’s layers of symbolism we’re yet to penetrate here.
Other details include the Afghanistan map being geographically based on Jordan; a Ghana boy named Julius playing one of the African child soldiers seen in the trailer; Snake’s face being based on four different people, with Kaz’s model being created in a similar face; and Dr. Emmerich aka Huey’s face seemingly being scanned from a French model.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be releasing on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4.
