Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain Crazy Coincidence: Even Moby Dick’s First Printing Had Its Epilogue Missing

Moby Dick is one of the biggest references in The Phantom Pain.

While the launch of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has largely been met with nothing but great reviews, there have been some who have been a bit annoyed by the fact that there is apparently some content missing. It’s gotten to the point where even those of us here at Gamingbolt believe that Konami has to explain exactly what is going on with content that was either missing or cut to the detriment of the game as a whole.

So just how big a deal is this in the grand scheme of things? Whether or not you’re a fan of literature, you’re probably someone who has heard about Moby Dick. Long thought of as an instant classic, the fact of the matter is that the book had some problems when it was first published. According to Wikipedia, the book was actually released without an epilogue and a couple of sections and critics hated it. It’s well known that several elements in MGS5 [like the names Ishmael, Ahab, Peqoud etc] are taken directly from the Moby Dick book.

So for those who wondering regarding the abrupt ending of The Phantom Pain, there is a possibility that Kojima intentionally left out the ending. Take whatever you want from this but there is no denying this is one crazy coincidence.
