IGN recently had a full 12 hour gaming session with the hotly anticipated, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. His gameplay session revealed some interesting things though, one of which is the Quick Heal mechanic. Fans of Snake Eater will have no doubt told you about the games famous real time injuries that required the player to treat wounds by way of a series of menus.
This has been streamlined considerably in the game, requiring the player to only hold the Triangle button to heal an injured arm. Such is the norm for anything that comes from Hideo Kojima’s head, characters in the game (notably, recruited soldiers) tend to have some slightly odd, albeit funny names. Examples include, Crimson Kangaroo, Brass Armadillo, and Stone Mastodon.
One of the more interesting choices that is afforded to the player, is the deployment time option. You can choose to roll out early, at 6AM or wait until the evening and depart for your mission at 6PM. Also available is the ASAP option, which will presumably have you depart fairly soon after receiving mission intel.
Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain will receive a new trailer tomorrow. The game launches on 1st September on consoles and 15th September on Steam.
Thanks, IGN.
