Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain On PS4: E3 2013 Vs. Gameplay Footage Shows No Graphical Downgrade

Relax, Metal Gear fans.

So there has been some concern among the Metal Gear Solid community that the graphics of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been downgraded from what we saw at last year’s E3 [one particular concern is about Ocelot’s character model and details]. But apparently this does not seem to be the case. The Phantom Pain has a dynamic weather and lighting system, so the characters and environments might look a bit dull when the sun sets down or when the climate changes.

A user on Reddit has posted some screenshots from last year’s E3 2013 trailer and compared them to the screens from the PS4 gameplay footage that was revealed today. You can check out the comparison below and except for the different lighting and weather conditions, nothing seems to have changed.

Another point to be noted is that Youtube is pretty heavy on compression and Konami have not yet released the direct feed footage of the 30 minute gameplay demo. So Metal Gear Solid fans should not worry about any possible downgrade as the game still looks solid on the PlayStation 4.

The game is due for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
