Metro Exodus – “Absolute Majority” of Sales Have Been on Consoles

THQ Nordic also speaks of a "growing audience" on PC.

Metro Exodus has clearly enjoyed plenty of success on the market since its launch, becoming the biggest ever launch for game in the history of THQ Nordic. But as we all know, its exclusivity to the Epic Games Store on PC attracted a great deal of controversy prior to the game’s release- so how exactly has that affected the game’s sales?

Speaking at a Q&A session in their latest quarterly financial meeting, THQ Nordic confirmed that the “absolute majority” of sales for the game had been on the PS4 and the Xbox One. Though they also mentioned a “growing fanbase on PC”, they did not go into any specifics regarding the game’s performance on the platform, and refused to comment on the game’s performance on Epic Games Store specifically. THQ Nordic also said that they were “especially happy” with how the game is performing digitally, but also mentioned that, being a single player title, it has also had a pretty good performance in terms of physical sales.

Though we don’t have any official numbers or data from THQ Nordic to go by, Epic Games revealed not too long ago that Metro Exodus’ launch on the Epic Games Store had been more than twice as successful as Metro: Last Light’s launch on Steam.

Metro Exodus is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
