Metro Exodus Had THQ Nordic’s Biggest Launch Ever

The first person shooter has "performed in line" with the publisher's expectations.

Metro Exodus attracted no small amount of controversy earlier in the year when it declared exclusivity on PC for the Epic Games Store, but it seems like that hasn’t had much of an impact on the game’s sales, which is something prior evidence had suggested as well. The first person shooter has enjoyed a pretty solid launch, in fact.

In their latest financial report, THQ Nordic reported that not only had Metro Exodus sales been the primary driver for their revenues for the quarter, but also that the game had the biggest launch ever in the history of the THQ Nordic group. The shooter has performed “in line with management’s expectations”, while its sales have also recouped any investments that were made for development and marketing.

It’s worth pointing out that this only counts sales till March 31, which is when the financial quarter ended- which means that within six weeks of launch, Metro Exodus had sold enough to break even all the money that went into development and marketing costs. While we don’t have exact sales figures, we can assuredly say that that’s a solid performance- and well deserved, too.

Metro Exodus – currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC – will also be receiving two expansions, one of which will be out in Summer of this year. Meanwhile, developers 4A Games have also partnered with THQ Nordic once again for a new, unannounced AAA project. Read more about that through here.
