Metro Exodus Dev: Xbox One X Is A Beast, Game’s Native 4K Resolution Is Testament To That

4A Games not currently in position to confirm 60fps yet.

Microsoft has had its share of misfortunes over the past few years and even though the company has shown promise of correcting course, no one can deny how well the Xbox One X panned out. Touted as the most powerful console ever prior to release, the Xbox One X has been the closest to 4K gaming. What does the future hold for the platform?

For starters, 4A Games’ Metro Exodus will take advantage of the system. Koch Media’s head of global brand management Huw Beynon was asked by GamingBolt at E3 2018 about specific Xbox One X enhancements that could be expected. Naturally the question turned to whether 4K resolution and 60 frames per second would be coming to Xbox One. We already know that native 4K is supported.

Beynon noted that fps and performance is yet to be decided so a 60fps mode is definitely not out of the question at this point, “We have confirmed that we’re going to hit 4K. I don’t think we’re in a position to confirm our performance target at the moment. It’s a little early in development for that.”

As for how the console fares from a development perspective, Beynon said, “That’s probably something I want my CTO software engineer to answer. But yes, it’s a beast. The fact that you can get [native] 4K is a testament to how powerful it is.”

Metro Exodus is out on February 22nd 2019 after being delayed from Fall 2018. It will be heading to Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
