Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s PC Requirements Are Appropriately Bonkers

Recommended settings list a 32 GB RAM among its requirements, while the so-called ideal specs will require a 64 GB RAM.

Back when Microsoft Flight Simulator launched for PC in 2020, it was, without question, one of the most demanding and graphically intensive games available on the platform. It’s no surprise, then, that its upcoming successor once again has incredibly demanding system requirements on PC.

Microsoft has revealed the specs for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 in recently published official FAQ, and they get increasingly bonkers as you go up the specs, to an almost ridiculous degree. On minimum settings, the requirements are relatively reasonable, with players needing either a Ryzen 2600X or an i7-6800K, along with either a Radeon RX 5700 or a GeForce GTX 970 (with 4 GB of VRAM), and a 16 GB RAM.

On recommended settings, meanwhile, you’ll need either a Ryzen 7 2700X or an i7-10700K, along with either a Radeon RX 5700 XT or a GeForce RTX 2080 (with 8 GB of VRAM), and 32 GB RAM. For the so-called ideal settings, meanwhile, players will need either a Ryzen 9 7900X or an i7-14700K, along with either a Radeon RX 7900 XT or a GeForce RTX 4080 (with 12 GB of VRAM), and a whopping 64 GB RAM.

Regardless of which setting you’re playing on, you’ll also need about 50 GB of free storage space. You can check out the full system requirements below.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launches for PC and Xbox Series X/S on November 19.
