Microsoft Flight Simulator is Reviving the Antonov An-255 “Mirya” on Februray 27

Microsoft Flight Simulator is reviving the Antonov An-255 "Mirya", which was destroyed last year in an attack on Ukraine by Russia.

In its most recent developer stream, Microsoft has announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator will be getting the now-destroyed world’s biggest plane—the Antonov An-255 “Mirya”.

The plane, destroyed in early 2022, flew on its final mission in Februray 2022, carrying 90 tons of Covid-19 test kits from China to Denmark. The plane was destroyed by a Russian attack on the Antonov Airport in Hostomel, where the plane was stationed. It was originally built in 1985, and went into service in 2001.

The Antonov An-255 “Mirya” will be available in Microsoft Flight Simulator as part of a licensing deal between Microsoft, Antonov, and IniBuilds. To help ensure accuracy, An-255 captain Dmytro Antonov will also be part of the development.

The plane will be coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator on Februray 27 as part of the one-year anniversary of its destruction. It will be priced at $20, with proceeds going to Antonov and Ukraine.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
