If you’re the more adventurous, technical kind of gamer with an Android device, Microsoft is now using their Xbox Beta app to let Android users in on the fun of party chat while away from their console.
When or if this would roll out onto the main Xbox app that’s also available on iOS is unknown, as this feature was quietly added and never mentioned previously by Microsoft. However, given the company’s recent push towards connected experiences such as Play Anywhere and Minecraft’s Better Together update, they’re already letting disparate platforms play together, so why not allow them to chat together.
While Microsoft brought the dream of cross platform play to life, at least in Minecraft, earlier this year at E3 on any device that could reasonably power it, Sony is still holding out on any and all cross platform play talks, including from Microsoft, Rocket League and even Epic Games.
Thanks, Reddit.
