Microsoft Reveals Significant Upcoming Improvements for Xbox Home UI

Xbox Insiders will be able to experience a new version of the Xbox home UI that features a number of improvements based on recent feedback.

Microsoft has made a number of upgrades to the Xbox user experience in the Xbox Series X/S’ first couple of years, but there is, of course, still plenty of room for improvement. Another big change will be coming soon though, with a new Xbox home experience having been in the works for while, and Microsoft has revealed some of the improvements it has made to its test build based on feedback from users in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha programs.

The biggest change is a much more streamlined layout that sees all tiles being moved to the bottom of the screen, while their sizes have also been reduced in order to make the background more prominent. Speaking of which, a new responsive game art feature has also ben added, which will update the default background and show off a game’s art in when you’re hovering over its title.

Navigation has also seen some improvements, with a new Quick Access menu added to the top of the screen, which includes direct access to your library of games, Game Pass, the Xbox store, and the settings menu. Finally, the “My games & apps” tile has also been updated and will now let users know “when there’s something new or needs your attention”.

The new and updated version of the Xbox Home UI is available now in preview for Xbox Insiders. It will become available for all users later in the year.
