Monster Hunter Wilds received its first proper gameplay trailer since its announcement at The Game Awards 2023. It showcases new monsters, locations and much more detailed ecosystem. Capcom provided more information on the PlayStation Blog and confirmed a fully voiced protagonist, a series’ first.
Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto touted a “new level of detailed creatures and ecosystems,” which appears to be the case. Every monster and person has their “own thoughts and motivations”, providing an even more dynamic experience. You’ll encounter herds and packs that interact with each other on a large scale.
As players venture into a locale, they can seamlessly begin quests to hunt large monsters. The region showcased in the trailer is Windward Plains, the first locale visited by the Investigation Team in the Forbidden Lands. The mix of deserts, grasslands and rock formations features “abundant” landscapes with plenty of wildlife and harsh environments, with “extreme weather” changing it significantly.
Depending on the conditions, monsters and other wildlife will adapt accordingly. Of course, this is only one region, with Capcom promising “a world full of countless surprises and discoveries to be made.”
Monster Hunter Wilds launches in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
