Monster Hunter World was quite the surprise. Not only did it take a franchise that had been primarily a handheld one for the better part of a decade to consoles and PC, it also soared in the sales charts and became Capcom’s best selling title ever in record time. The game is going to have its first (and last) major expansion, Iceborne, release later this year. In the meantime, Capcom is offering week-long free trial on PS4 for those who haven’t jumped on yet.
The trial will last until May 20th, and will let new players sample a pretty good chunk of the early game. You can take on up to three star quests, do expeditions in both the Ancient Forest and the Wildspire Wastes, fully customize your character, and play online with others who have the full game or are also testing out the game. If you decide that you liked what you played and go on to purchase it, you can take your save file into the full game.
Monster Hunter World is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Iceborne will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this autumn, with a PC version coming in the Winter.
