Due to the volume of releases this year, it’s easy to forget about titles like Acquire’s Octopath Traveler 2. It launched on February 24th to positive reviews, and in a new tweet (translation via DeepL), Square Enix has confirmed over one million worldwide shipments and digital downloads.
While it sounds good on paper, shipments are trailing behind the first game, which shipped one million units worldwide less than one month after its release (that too on only one platform). Perhaps this is due to the release window and competition with big releases like Atomic Heart, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, WILD HEARTS and Destiny 2: Lightfall. Hopefully, its sales improve in the long term.
Octopath Traveler 2 is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and PS5. Given that the first game released for Xbox One and Game Pass, we could see the sequel make the jump. Stay tuned for potential announcements at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11th at 10 AM PST.
