Acquire’s Octopath Traveler 2 has received a free demo on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5, with the PC version arriving on February 9th. The Prologue Demo allows for playing as all eight protagonists for three hours, with the starting areas available to explore freely (though you can’t travel beyond that). Progress carries over to the full game.
As a follow-up to the 2018 role-playing game, which first introduced the HD-2D visual style, Octopath Traveler 2 features eight brand-new characters. Each has a unique story and different ways to interact with NPCs. For example, Ochette, the Hunter, can provoke people and fight them in battle while Partitio, the Merchant, engages in commerce.
The Break and Boost combat system from the first game returns, with Latent Power allowing one to use a powerful ability once the gauge is full. The protagonists will also interact with each other more and engage in unique stories via Crossed Paths.
Octopath Traveler 2 is out on February 24th for PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
