So, this keeps happening. Square’s Octopath Traveler has been an incredible hit for the company since its launch last month. It’s been such great hit for Square, in fact, that the game keeps selling out, worldwide, and in Japan. In Japan, in fact, the game is so stock starved that after an incredible debut, it’s plummeted through the sales charts, because there are no more copies left to buy.
To their credit, Square Enix are doing the best they can to meet the demand for the game, and they keep restocking it. Except, those restocks keep selling out, again, and again, and again. Which is what happened this time, too. According to 5ch, Octopath Traveler was restocked in Japan yesterday, the largest restock the game has seen since its first shipment… and it sold out before the day was out, also jumping atop retailer lists, such as Amazon Japan’s, as a result.
So… yeah. If you want Octopath, you can at least pick it up via the eShop if nothing else. It is available now, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Read our review here to see what the fuss is all about.
