Octopath Traveler Worldwide Shipments and Digital Sales Cross 2.5 Million Units

Square Enix's retro RPG hits another sales milestone.

Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler may not have been a perfect game, but it scratched that special itch for old school turn-based JRPGs that not a lot of games scratch these days, and drew special praise for its visual style in particular. Critical reception and sales are both areas that Octopath has seen plenty of success in, and where the latter is concerned, recently, Square Enix confirmed another major milestone for the RPG.

Taking to Twitter via the game’s official PR page, they confirmed that Octopath Traveler’s worldwide shipments and digital sales now exceed over 2.5 million units. That’s up from 2 million units, which was confirmed in March of last year, so even though sales have definitely slowed down, the game is still selling.

Octopath Traveler is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia. You can read our review through here.

Fellow old school turn-based RPG Bravely Default 2 is out for the Switch tomorrow, on February 26. Meanwhile, Square Enix’s next HD-2D game, featuring similar visual style to Octopath Traveler but instead focusing on turn-based strategy battles, currently called Project Triangle Strategywill launch exclusively for the Switch next year.
