The Overwatch 2 closed PvP beta starts next week but details have already begun to emerge from the same, courtesy of datamining. BlizzTrack’s Helba revealed on Twitter that there were references to a Battle Pass, lending further credence to this UI concept that emerged recently.
However, there were lots of details on PvE like Season Progression, Unlocked Heroes, Hero Shards, Role Shards, Mission Progression, Tier Progression, and Hero Progression. It’s unknown what Shards do but it seems that players may have to unlock heroes in the campaign to play as them. As for Tier Progression, it has something called Key Count associated with it, whatever that may be.
If that weren’t enough, the title screen for the beta was also leaked, reflecting an overall cleaner look for the title. It’s worth noting that everything datamined from the beta may not necessarily be indicative of the final game. Many of these could be references to older features, for all we know.
The closed beta is slated to kick off on April 26th for PC players. Blizzard recently detailed the reworks for Doomfist and Orisa with the former now being Tank – read more about that here.
