Overwatch 2 Team Will Share More Details on Future Plans in April

Executive producer Jared Neuss says the team is "working through the details now" and will keep players posted in the meantime.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 had a strong start when it launched last October, with over 35 million players in its first month. While new Support heroes are confirmed for Seasons 4 and 6, with a new collaboration later this year, executive producer Jared Neuss says the team will reveal more on “future plans” in April.

Neuss initially promised to provide “insight into what the year holds” for the sequel “soon.” He then confirmed that PvE plans would be revealed “soon” while adding this was closer to his definition of the word instead of Blizzard Soon™. Whether PvE is included in next month’s details remains to be seen.

There’s also the question of scope. Overwatch 2 was planned to launch as a full-fledged new game with a campaign and multiplayer. It shifted to free-to-play model and released the PvP component first, with plans to release PvE in 2023. Of course, the campaign and Hero Missions could roll out over time instead of all at once. Stay tuned in the meantime for updates.
