Overwatch Free Weekend Announced for May 25th to 28th

Coincides with the Anniversary Event, allowing access to past brawls and cosmetics.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch will be hosting another free weekend, starting on May 25th and lasting till May 28th. The free weekend goes live at 11 AM PDT on May 25th but you can check your local timing here.

All 27 heroes will be available as will the game’s 18 maps spread across Quick Play, Arcade and Custom Games. Competitive Mode will likely be disabled, however. Free players can still level up and earn Loot Boxes for different cosmetics like voice lines, skins, sprays, highlight intros and the like.

If purchasing the full game, then all progress made during the free weekend will transfer over. The timing this time is actually pretty good since it coincides with the Anniversary Event, which begins on May 22nd and will see all past seasonal brawls and cosmetics returning. There will also be a new deathmatch map called Petra for players to enjoy.

Even better is the fact that all PlayStation 4 players can take part in the free weekend without a PlayStation Plus account (a subscription will be required after May 28th though). Will Hanzo be nerfed before the free weekend? Stay tuned for more information in the coming week.
