On Monday, Blizzard announced that it was launching its newest team-based shooter Overwatch on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC on May 24. It turns out this announcement comes after rumors surfaced that was indeed the release date for the game.
The launch date appears to be right in line for when people expected the game to hit store shelves. Blizzard had said earlier it was going to be releasing Overwatch in the spring of 2016. In addition to the announcement of the release date, Blizzard says players can pre purchase the game now.
Blizzard also announced it was going to be running an open beta during the start of May. The all-access period for this open beta will run from May 5 to May 9. Those who preorder the game will get a couple of days jump on that open beta. Those who buy the game ahead of time will actually be able to get special access on May 3.
