Following up on the 2022 release of Pac-Man World Re-PAC, Bandai Namco has started revealing more details about the sequel – Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC. The company has now released a new trailer showcasing the gameplay from the remade platformer, along with confirming that the title is slated for release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2 on September 26. Check out the trailer below.
The trailer for Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC shows off how the sequel improves on its predecessor, while also laying out the core premise of the game. Taking on the role of Pac-Man, players are tasked with finding the ghosts and getting back the golden fruits. To do this, players will have to travel all over the game’s world – Pac-Land, with levels including the Snowy Mountain, Paradise Meadows, and even the Ocean.
On the gameplay side of things, Pac-Man has access to his old moveset from the original Pac-Man World, along with a few new moves. The newest additions to his arsenal include the Flip Kick, the Super Butt-Bounce, and Ice Skating, among other moves. The title will also feature vehicle segments, including an underwater level with the Pac-Marine that can fire torpedoes.
The trailer also showcases a new assisted game mode being introduced for those that might find the title’s old-school 3D platforming gameplay too challenging. Dubbed Fairy Mode, it triggers in locations where players are dying too often to certain hazards, and when activated, adds in extra stable surfaces that can be jumped on to. For example, a bridge with collapsing segments becomes easier with Fairy Mode adding in extra blocks to prevent players from falling to their doom.
We also get a look at some of the extras that will be available in Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC, such as a Time Trial mode that challenges players to finish the game’s levels as quickly as they can. Players can also collect figurines through Gashapon machines that can then be used to decorate the home base of Pac-Village. Gaming history buffs will also enjoy the classic Pac-Man, as well as other min-games like Pac-Attack and Pacmania that can be played in Pac-Village.
Pac-Man World 2 was originally released all the way back in 2002 on the PS2, GameCube and Xbox. PC also got a release in 2004, while there was a separate version made for the Game Boy Advance back in 2005. The title is a follow-up to 1999’s Pac-Man World. As you can expect from a remake, Pac-Man World 2 Re-PAC features several enhancements over the original, including new visuals, smoother performance, and modernised controls.
The original Pac-Man World Re-PAC was released on PC and consoles back in August 2022, and featured major graphical upgrades over its original PlayStation release. The game also included new modes: Quest Mode, Maze Mode, and Original Mode.
