Path of Exile – Next Expansion Reveal Coming November 16th

The 3.9.0 expansion will contain "game-wide" content separate from the challenge league.

Free to play action RPG Path of Exile had its Blight expansion release just month ago. However, Grinding Gear Games already has plans to unveil the next expansion. It will be showcased during the keynote presentation at ExileCon on November 16th. A demo for the expansion will also be available for attendees to try.

The developer noted that the 3.9.0 expansion would contain “game-wide” content that’s separate from the quarterly challenge league. You can expect the overall update to be “larger in size than any other Path of Exile release in 2019.” Considering the number of skills, mechanics, end-game changes and whatnot that this year saw, that’s more than a little surprising. In terms of mechanics, you can expect a “good balance of risk vs reward, compelling endgame content and is a whole lot less server-melty.”

Interestingly, there’s going to be some balancing done on bows though it won’t be as extensive as changes made to spell-casting and melee combat. Expansion 3.9.0 is expected to release for PC on December 7th, New Zealand time. PS4 and Xbox One should see the expansion release a week later, as usual. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
