Path of Exile: Settlers of Kalguur Launch Leads to Over 229,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

The free-to-play action RPG soars to new player milestones following the launch of its new expansion and Challenge League.

Grinding Gear Games’ latest expansion for Path of Exile went live last Friday with Settlers of Kalguur. The massive amount of content and quality-of-life features, like a Currency Exchange Market, led to the free-to-play title’s highest Steam player numbers yet, peaking at 229,337 at this time of writing.

Settlers of Kalguur introduces a new town-building system wherein players assist in constructing Kingsmarch (a future location in Path of Exile 2). They can locate resources and assign workers to harvest them, open trade routes, and defend the town from attacks.

Then there are all the other new features like the melee combat overhaul, Gladiator rework (complete with new skills to encourage building into blocking) and the Warden Ascendancy. This is in addition to improvements for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players, new encounters in Tier 16 and 17 maps, and much more.

Unfortunately, the new Currency Exchange Market is exclusive to Settlers of Kalguur, though the developer is interested in how it fares (and its potential for the future). Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
