Payday 2 Will be Fixed on Xbox One By End of the Year, Promises Overkill

'Right now this is our number one priority.'

While Payday 2 is a great game, with a great following and an active community of players, it is also fundamentally broken on consoles, despite multiple attempts by the developer and publisher to push the game on platforms other than PC. The most egregious of these is probably the Xbox One version of the game, which suffers from so many matchmaking issues as to be practically unplayable.

But now, producer Almir Listo has apologized for the state of the game, and has promised a radical overhaul of Payday 2’s systems is being worked on.

“We want to apologise for our lack of communication with the status on both platforms (Xbox One and PS4),” Listo wrote in a post on Reddit.

“You deserve to get updates on a more regular basis, and we understand it’s frustrating to see the PC version of the game getting update after update while you wait to know what’s going on.”

A “full remake” of Payday 2’s Xbox One matchmaking system that will simplify the way players join games is in the works.

“This is a solution that is built from the ground up, as the previous matchmaking system we have for PS4 and PC doesn’t work well with your platform,” Listo explained.

“Right now this is our number one priority. Our ambition is to go live with the new matchmaking system and additional fixes within the coming weeks, and no later than the end of the year. Does that mean that we want to release it on 31st of December? Absolutely not, we want to get it done ASAP.”

I think it’s good to finally see some communication, but at this point, the community will need more than just empty words, they want to see a functioning product. Listo is saying all the right words, but until he backs them up with all the right actions, I don’t think community skepticism with the game and with the developer is going anywhere.
