The devastating news broke yesterday that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 15 would be delayed to November 29, from its earlier September 30 release date, to allow more time to the developers to apply polish to the game. However, it seems that Square Enix’s loss has turned into Atlus’ gain- as Persona Central is reporting, pre-orders for Persona 5 have seen a sharp spike on Amazon Japan in the wake of Final Fantasy 15‘s delay.
As of right now, Persona 5 is ranked second on Amazon Japan’s bestsellers list, with a seemingly 450% boost in the number of pre-orders placed for the site in just the last 24 hours. It seems that the delay of Final Fantasy 15 has fans looking elsewhere for their RPG fix- which is just what Square Enix seemingly feared. Earlier this year, they had sent out a survey to fans, asking if they would rather play Persona or Final Fantasy if both were to release around the same time.
Persona 5 is going to launch on PS3 and PS4 on September 15, with a release in the west coming on February 14. Final Fantasy 15 is launching on Xbox One and PS4 on November 29.
