PES 2016 Is Not 1080p on Xbox One After All

But no one will be able to tell the difference, says Konami.

A while ago, a report broke out that claimed that this year’s edition of Konami’s football franchise, PES 2016, would be 1080p on the Xbox One. It led to a lot of hopes about Metal Gear Solid 5 also hitting that resolution on the Xbox One, thanks to it using the same engine as PES, but that hope was ultimately dashed. Now, it seems like the rumor about PES itself may have been wrong to begin with as well.

On Twitter, Konami’s Adam Bhatti explained that they had ultimately lowered the resolution a little to keep performance and framerate steady. ‘We’re going to be just shy of native 1080p,’ he said, ‘but no one will be able to tell the difference.’

Which raises the question, exactly what resolution is the game even running at? The PES 2016 demo available now on Xbox One runs at in 1360 x 1080p, which is lower than the PS4 version, which runs at a full 1920 x 1080.

PES 2015 launches on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4 on September 15. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage and information.
