Project Maverick Announced by People Can Fly, Published by Microsoft

Based on an existing Microsoft IP, the project has been fully funded by the publisher and has a budget of $30-$50 million.

People Can Fly of Outriders and Bulletstorm fame has announced a new title funded and published by Microsoft. The developer’s regulatory release revealed that Project Maverick is based on a Microsoft IP and has a total budget of $30-$50 million.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the developer and publisher have worked together. People Can Fly ported the first Gears of War by Epic Games to PC and worked on Gears of War Judgment for the Xbox 360. Which IP it’s been commissioned to work on remains to be seen, but the developer is rumored to be working on a third-person sci-fi RPG shooter for Sony.

Developed alongside Sony’s XDev team, the title is allegedly codenamed “RED.” It has two other projects in the works, one with Square Enix and another called Project Dagger, which was to be published by Take-Two Interactive but is now self-published. Stay tuned for more details on Project Maverick in the coming years.
