Project Resistance Will Have An Offline, Narrative Single Player

The game won't just be a multiplayer affair.

With the success of Resident Evil 2, the acclaimed remake of the PlayStation title, many are waiting in the wings for the remake of the very unappreciated sequel, Resident Evil 3. That’s why many were sideswiped when Project Resistance was announced. But Capcom insists the game is still very much survival horror, and the series has history of oddball spin offs. The game will see a 4v1 system of four survivors against one Mastermind who is throwing monsters at them, but it won’t just be a multiplayer affair.

Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Producer Masachika Kawata talked about the game’s structure. While the focus is obviously on the 4v1 aspect, there will be an offline single player game, and it will be “narrative” focused.

“The version we showed at TGS 2019 was an online game mode, but we are fully aware that there many are Resident Evil fans that expect the story in the game. In an effort to satisfy our fans, we will have an offline mode that is focused on the narrative component.”

Resident Evil is a series that’s had a lot of spin offs with some hits and some fairly big misses. Hopefully, Project Resistance will land in the hits section. As of now there’s no release date slated, but signs up are now for a closed beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC version has also been announced but no beta for that version at this time.
