Ubisoft’s multiplayer shooter Rainbow Six Siege has been one of the biggest success stories of this generation, launching in a poor state and coming back with multiple updates and fixes over the years as probably the best game in the genre right now. Its success has consistently reflected that success, and recently, it hit another major milestone.
In their recently quarterly financial briefing, Ubisoft confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege has amassed over 60 million players, up from 55 million at the end of last year. The game saw over a billion session days over the course of the 2019-20 fiscal year, and also enjoyed record engagement levels over the fourth quarter of the period (January 2020-March 2020), while also seeing a 26 per cent increase in PRI in the same period.
This does not mean that the game has sold over 60 million copies – what with game sharing and the like also accounting for registered players – but that’s an impressive number regardless. Ubisoft have also confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege is one of 11 games they have released this console generation that have sold over 10 million copies.
Rainbow Six Siege’s next event, Operation Steel Wave, is currently being teased and will be coming to the game soon. The game is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will also be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
