Last week Ubisoft released their financials, showing how well they’re doing. While it spoke of a lot of games doing well, one of note was Rainbow Six: Siege. The game was reported to have over 45 million active users and has raked in over $1 billion since its release in 2015. It’s a testament to how well Ubisoft has adapted the GaaS (Games as a Service) model, with the game getting yearly major updates. The game is now in Year 4, with the second season just about to start.
The trailer below, “Operation Phantom Sight,” details in length the new additions to this season. The big two are the additions of two new operators, Attacker Nøkk and Defender Warden. Nøkk uses stealth abilities and can cloak to move silently and disappear from camera feeds. Warden has some dapper spy glasses that can void effects done by flash grenades. The season will also include a map rework of Kafe Dostoyevsk, changes to Reverse Friendly Fire, and more.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Test Server for this update will go live on May 21 on PC, and the season will release to all users in June.
