Capcom’s Resident Evil 2, reimagined version of the 1998 classic, has had a stellar reception since launch. With three million units shipped in its first week worldwide, Capcom has released a new set of stats to indicate the number of hours played, which character was chosen the most by the player base, and much more. The data is available thanks to those who enabled RE Net support with at the start of their game.
To start with, 79 percent of players chose Leon S. Kennedy for their first playthrough, with Claire Redfield being chosen by 21 percent. The number of clears is pretty close though – 688,576 players have cleared the game with Leon, versus 413,937 players who cleared it with Claire. In terms of kills, over 151 million have been racked up thus far, which is 1,515 times the actual population of Raccoon City.
Over 2097 years of play time has been racked up by players, with 500 years of play time clocked in just the first two days of launch. Players have traveled a total of 51,932,341 km in the game. The Tyrant a.k.a. Mr. X has followed players for roughly 7.6 million km.
There’s still a lot more to come by way of stats – even more hijinks and play time will be clocked when The Ghost Survivors DLC is out in February.
