Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake is currently the talk of E3 2018 (among other games, that is). Developed on the RE Engine, the remake will bring the trials of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield to a new generation as it releases on January 25th 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It will also support Xbox One X and PS4 Pro on release.
A few new details were offered about the game in addition to some new screenshots, which are essentially stills taken from recent trailers. Capcom also noted that along with modernized controls, an over-the-shoulder perspective and immersive audio, there would also be gameplay modes from the original game. Furthermore, with the new photorealistic style, zombies will react in real-time to damage taken. Damage is immediately visible and will make each bullet that much more important when defending one’s self.
Capcom Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi also stated that, “The press and fan reaction to Resident Evil 2 when we said ‘We Do It’ in 2015 has been overwhelming. We’ve been very eager to unveil the new game to the world this week. We want fans to see the reimagining of Resident Evil 2 not only captures the magic of the beloved original, but also expands it to deliver a richer experience. The first look at E3 is just a taste of what’s to come.”
With a franchise that’s sold over 83 million units worldwide in its history, the pressure is on for Resident Evil 2 Remake to deliver. Nevermind the awesome visuals and gameplay – if the quality of Resident Evil 7 is any indication, development is pretty much on point.
