Resident Evil 3 Crosses 2 Million in Worldwide Shipments and Digital Sales

Capcom's latest remake notches up impressive figures just five days after launch.

Even with all the criticism, Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 3 has done exceptionally well. Five days after its worldwide release, the title has crossed two million in digital sales and worldwide shipments. Digital sales accounted for almost 50 percent of the total figure. Considering the PS One classic sold 3.5 million units cumulatively, these are some pretty good numbers.

The remake for Resident Evil 2, which released last year to strong critical acclaim, is still selling well. Capcom revealed that digital sales and shipments for the title had passed 6.5 million units since launch. Cumulative sales for the series total 95 million units as of December 31st 2019.

Capcom has plans to support Resident Evil Resistance, the multiplayer component of Resident Evil 3, with new content. Jill Valentine will be added as survivor on April 17th. Not much information has been revealed on future updates but players can expect more in May, June and so on. Stay tuned for further details in the coming months.
