Resident Evil 3’s Cast Will Have Expanded Roles In Remake; Reimagined Hunter Confirmed

Many things will be extended in the upcoming remake.

When it comes to the mainline Resident Evil series, I’ve always felt like Resident Evil 3 was one of the most overlooked. Most people focus on the game’s main antagonist, the Nemesis Tyrant, or its narrative connection to Resident Evil 2. But the third game always had its fair share of uniqueness and its own set of characteristics. Hopefully, the upcoming remake will help put a new light on the game, and it’s doing so by extending a lot of what made the game so good.

In a new episode of the Japanese Capcom TV, several questions were asked about the game. The hosts answered a few, including saying the supporting cast in the game will be extended a good deal in the remake. They specifically mentioned the character of Dario. If you’re scratching your head on who that is, he’s the character from the beginning of the game freaking out and then locking himself in a container (and also meeting a grisly fate if you go back later in the game).

They also confirmed that the Hunter would be making a return with the Resident Evil 3 remake. The monster is one of the original iconic foes from the series, but has been MIA for quite some time. Apparently, it’s been redesigned somewhat for modern audiences. Big thanks to Dusk Golem on the ResetERA forums for translation work.

Capcom has hit a bullseye with the remakes of the mainline games so far, with the remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 being astounding. Hopefully that streak continues when Resident Evil 3‘s remake hits in April 2020.
