Resident Evil 6 release date brought forward by almost two months; Capcom “not afraid” of competition

Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evul 6, previously due out on November 20 this year, will now be released on October 2, bringing the release date forward by nearly 50 days.

“First, let me say that we’re not really afraid of other companies and their titles,” Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive producer on RE6 told Eurogamer. “The problem for us is when we brought this idea to the dev team and told them they’d have to cut some time off of their dev cycle to put this out early – that was the scariest thing, not the fear of other company’s games.

“After we announced the game back in January, the reaction from fans was pretty impressive. In response to that, we decided that we wanted to get this game in people’s hands as soon as possible.”

Capcom also announced details for a demo for Resi 6. Those who buy the upcoming Capcom action-RPG, Dragon’s Dogma, will be getting a free pass code to the demo. The tester will be made available to download on Xbox 360 on July 3 and September 4 on PS3.
