Resident Evil Outrage Details Potentially Leak from Playtest – Rumour

Starring Rebecca Chambers, set (at least partially) in a college campus, and supposedly primed for a reveal not long from now, according to a new report.

We first started hearing about Resident Evil Outrage – which is allegedly what Capcom is calling Resident Evil Revelations 3 – amidst the massive ransomware leak that leaked out whole slate of unannounced Capcom games. Allegedly a Switch-first third person game starring Rebecca Chambers, reports have claimed that it is the next Resident Evil game in line for launch, with a reveal supposedly scheduled after Village’s launch.

Now, a new report by Biohazardcast has compiled new details on the game that have allegedly emerged from a recent playtest. Several details from previous reports are corroborated, such as the game being third person and starring Rebecca Chambers. The playtest in question was set in a college campus, where Rebecca is investigating the creation of a new virus. The opening section of the playtest took place in an open area where the player could talk around and interact with various students.

Students and teachers in the campus that have been infected are similar to the Majini from Resident Evil 5 and attack Rebecca with “school-based” weapons, while Rebecca herself is apparently quite vulnerable to attacks (which might suggest the existence of a health upgrade system) and starts out only with a knife in her arsenal, in true Resident Evil fashion.

The playtest took Rebecca to a library in the college, where she is attacked by an infected student with a pair of scissors, at which point she has the option to either run or attack the enemy. Defeating it yields a locker key, though it is unknown what for. Throughout the playtest, the player could also explore other room, such as labs, classrooms, bathrooms, and a cafeteria.

Allegedly, the playtest was running on a Nintendo Switch, with the game using the RE Engine, further corroborating previous reports. Biohazardcast’s report states that the game is going to be announced at or around E3, and will release in Fall 2021- though it’s worth noting that COVID-related development troubles could have delayed that date. For what it’s worth, previous reports have suggested that a game is targeting late 2021/early 2022 launch.

All of this unconfirmed and unverified, so take it with a grain of salt for now. Apparently, we might get details soon enough, so we might not have to wait long to know for sure one way or another. Capcom’s E3 2021 presentation is scheduled for later today, at 2:30 PM PT, while Nintendo’s E3 Direct is set for June 15, at 9 AM PT. We’ll be covering both live, so stay tuned for all announcements and updates.
