Spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem have been out in the wild ahead of the survival horror title’s launch on February 27th, and suffice it to say that Capcom is none too pleased. As it tweeted on the game’s English account, “We really want everyone to enjoy the game’s story and experience as much as possible.
“Our legal department will continue to issue takedowns and deletion notices for leaks to preserve your day-one experience.” It also kindly asked the community not to post any “pre-release leaks and spoilers,” while adding that it’s “not long now” until the game releases.
Of course, this is probably nothing new for Resident Evil fans, as past entries have had their stories and even endings leaked several days ahead of release. This apparently keeps happening due to copies breaking street date, and given the magnitude of the next entry’s plot, it makes sense that Capcom wants to be even more prudent in taking down spoilers.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It focuses on Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, and returns to Raccoon City, the setting for Resident Evil 2 and 3 (alongside spin-offs like Outbreak and The Umbrella Chronicles). Pre-loads reportedly begin on February 25th with the PS5 version weighing 72.88 GB, making it the largest entry in the series.
