Resident Evil Village Leak Details Planned April 2021 Release, DLC, Cross-Gen, And More – Rumor

A massive leak from Capcom brings potential details on the game.

Next year will see the release of the next entry in Capcom’s seemingly immortal survival horror franchise, Resident Evil Village. We have gotten few details about the game, such as details on the story, but we don’t know much about when to actually expect it. Well, if some new leaks are accurate, we know now, plus a whole lot more.

If you’re unaware, Capcom was the victim of a pretty significant data leak, and a lot of information came from it. One of the biggest things to shift through is a load of information about Village. According to the leaked documents, of which you can see below, the game is planned for an April 2021 release. It also seems like these documents are treating it as a cross-gen title as a PS4 version is mentioned. The company said they were looking into porting the title to last gen hardware, and if rumors are to be believed, the game started out as cross-gen to begin with.

With that, we also see information about DLC, with references to early access to some weapons, difficulty settings, visual filters and alternate soundtracks. This will come with a Digital Deluxe Edition as well as be sold separately. That, plus a Collector’s Edition that comes with a statue of Chris Redfield, is pretty in line with Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 releases.

That’s not all, though, apparently there will also be a demo for the PlayStation versions three weeks from release, and then a week before launch for the other versions. In this there is also reference to something called DOMINION that is referred to as the “Online Edition.” It’s not clear what that is, but seems to be a multiplayer mode of some kind, possibly a separate title married to Village in a similar way Resident Evil Resistance was to Resident Evil 3 this year.

As always with leaks, we file this under rumor. It’s always worth keeping in mind that even if these are real and not doctored in any way, it’s not clear when these slides are from, so it’s also possible it’s outdated, so we have no way to know one way or another how accurate the information still is. Having said all that, there’s really nothing here that seems totally outside the realm of possibility. The leak seems to indicate that pre-orders are set to go live sometime in January, so we will probably know pretty soon.
