Resident Evil Village’s Xbox Game Pass Listing Was an Error, Xbox Exec Says

"There are no current plans to bring Resident Evil Village to Game Pass," says Xbox exec Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb.

Resident Evil fans and those looking to dive into its latest entry, Resident Evil Village, saw a glimmer of hope recently when the survival horror game’s official page on the Polish Xbox Store momentarily mentioned the game as also being available on Xbox Game Pass, leading to speculation that an announcement regarding the same could be made soon. It seems, however, like that might not be the case.

Responding to the aforementioned Game Pass listing on Twitter, Xbox’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb recently clarified that Resident Evil Village’s Xbox Game Pass listing was an error that’s now been removed. According to Hryb, “there are no current plans to bring Resident Evil Village to Game Pass.”

Shortly before Resident Evil Village’s launch last year, leaked internal documents revealed that an agreement between Sony and Capcom precluded the latter from releasing the game on competing subscription serves like Xbox Game Pass and Stadia Pro. That particular clause was supposed to span a year following the game’s release, but it remains to be seen whether Capcom has any plans to bring the game to something like Game Pass in the near future.

Resident Evil Village is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC.
