Housemarque’s rogue-like third person shooter Returnal could be the latest PS5 exclusive to arrive on PC via Steam. The SteamDB listing for something called “Oregon” was recently discovered, which seems innocent enough. However, its history under the Localization features references Atropos, the planet the game is set on; Helios, protagonist Selene’s ship; the Tower of Sisyphus, an endless survival mode added in Returnal’s Ascension Update); and Returning, the endless loop that Selene finds herself trapped in.
The User Tags also include Bullet Hell, Roguevania, Rogue-lite, Rogue-like, Third-Person Shooter and Female Protagonist, which all describe the game quite well. These updates were made today so it’s likely that Sony is gearing up for an announcement in the coming weeks. Perhaps something for the Summer Game Fest?
Take things with a grain of salt though – Sackboy: A Big Adventure was also discovered on SteamDB and still hasn’t been officially announced for PC.
Whether Returnal launches on PC in the near future or much later, expect more PlayStation exclusives to release on the platform in the coming years. Sony recently reported $300 million in revenue from its PC releases this fiscal year with Horizon Zero Dawn selling nearly 2.4 million units and God of War crossing 971,000 units sold.
