Housemarque’s excellent roguelike shooter Returnal has been making big waves since it launched last week, but even with all the praise, the game has run into a few technical issues. The developer intends on quashing those issues with updates, of course, and and another one of those patches is due out later today.
Taking to Twitter, Housemarque confirmed that Returnal’s next patch is going live today, on May 5, and that patch notes will be shared at noon Pacific Time. Of course, Returnal doesn’t save mid-run saves yet (and it doesn’t look like Housemarque is planning on adding that in for now), which means the only way to suspend your game while in the middle of a run without losing your progress is putting your PS5 in rest mode.
Since the game automatically quits when updating, Housemarque suggests that you turn off your PS5’s auto-update feature before the patch goes live. Download the patch only if you’re not in the middle of a run (or if you don’t mind losing that progress).
Returnal is available exclusively on PS5. We’ll keep you updated on the patch notes once they go live, so stay tuned for that.
