Risk of Rain 2 Has Sold Over 4 Million Copies on Steam

Anniversary Update arrives on March 25th, adding a new Survivor.

Hopoo Games’ Risk of Rain 2 has had quite the journey since coming to Steam Early Access in March 2019. Following its launch to strong critical praise, the roguelite title has gone on to sell over four million copies on Steam alone. The developer also revealed that 88 percent of all players have played for more than an hour while 57 percent played for over 10 hours.

While the developer has confirmed the first paid expansion to be coming in late 2021, it does have some new content coming very soon. The Anniversary Update will be out on March 25th for PC, and serves to round out all of the items and content that were cut from the 1.0 launch. There are 88 lore entries to discover and a new Survivor, the Bandit, to play as. Even better is the fact that modded versions of the Bandit will remain separate accessible.

The Anniversary Update will be coming to other platforms later but the current plan is to release the first expansion on all platforms simultaneously. Hopoo has also expanded its development team for working on Risk of Rain 2 and “future games to come.” Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
