There’s been much speculation about the launch dates and pricing for the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X. While €599 for the former and €899 for the latter were widely accepted (though not officially confirmed) alongside pre-orders allegedly starting this month, a release date was unknown. That is, until now.
Dealabs’ billbil-kun reports that the handheld PCs will allegedly launch on October 16th (in line with prior rumors). Microsoft will reportedly announce these details at Gamescom during its Xbox broadcast on August 20th. The leaker also alleged that both platforms won’t be exclusive to the Microsoft Store and can be purchased at retailers like Amazon.
Of course, the date is all the more auspicious because it further narrows down the launch of the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. Touted as playable at launch for the Xbox Ally, Team Cherry later clarified that it would arrive before the handhelds. With playable demos at the Xbox and Nintendo booths at Gamescom, it’s safe to assume that an announcement is coming, potentially at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19th.
