Being a Hollow Knight fan, especially one waiting for the release of its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, must feel torturous right now with still no release date. Microsoft indicated that the long-awaited Metroidvania would be playable on the newly announced Xbox ROG Ally when it launches this Holiday season, which led some to believe it’s launching alongside the handheld.

However, Team Cherry’s Matthew “Leth” Griffin, in charge of marketing and publishing, revealed on Discord (via Reddit) that it’s actually launching before the Holidays. It’s also not tied to any console release, which means you won’t have to wait for the Xbox ROG Ally to get your hands on it.

While the question of a release date remains, this further narrows down a potential release date to any time before November 1st (at least, in the United States). Time will tell, though, so don’t get your hopes up.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
