Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 – Cloud Formation and Dissolving Revealed in New Video

Ninja Theory provides a work-in-progress look at how it uses flow maps for clouds in the upcoming action adventure title.

Since its reveal at The Game Awards 2019, details for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 have been few and far between. Ninja Theory has talked about a few aspects of development, which is twice as big as the original, and the game’s setting of Iceland. It was also confirmed last year that the title would be developed on Unreal Engine 5.

While the jury is still out on whether it will appear at E3 2021, Ninja Theory has showcased some interesting tech that it’s using. Over on Twitter, one can see how the developer uses flow maps for its clouds to make them form and dissolve more naturally. This is a work-in-progress build though so try not to think too much about the graphics quality.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is currently exclusive to Xbox Series X and PC. Despite the larger budget and development scope, it was reportedly on the developer’s roadmap before being acquired by Microsoft.
